This growing biotech team was ready to deepen the leadership capacity and skill of their emerging Management Team.

Objectives

The client’s objectives were to improve cross-functional communication, develop their understanding of the impacts of decisions and actions across teams, improve business metrics including product quality and delivery, deepen ownership and accountability, and increase confidence throughout the organization to address issues and solve problems.

Approach

The program started with individual calls with each participant. Through these 1:1 conversations, challenges and opportunities were identified to explore with the team. A 6-month, cohort-based leadership development program was developed that included six customized learning modules, 20 hours of coaching, and inter-session assignments designed to apply learning within each leader’s specific work context.

Result

At the end of the engagement, the Executive Team supervising the program reported:

  • Increased right-level problem solving (ex: not bringing issues to the Executive Team that could be solved at the management level)
  • Improved quarterly metrics as measured by an internal management software
  • More cross-functional meetings
  • Use of internal communications system for speedier response times
  • Deeper engagement with organizational priority setting
